Notice of Application for Consent Under Section 36 of The Electricity Act 1989

An application has been made to the Scottish Ministers to construct a dam (grid ref: 22313 71800), powerhouse building, outlet (grid ref: 23217 71861) and associated works for the purpose of generating electricity from waterpower on the Ben Glas river, Glen Falloch Estate. The project area lies on the Ben Glas burn on the east side of the river Falloch at Inverarnon, Stirlingshire. Glen Falloch is situated to the north of Loch Lomond, between the head of the loch and Crianlarich. This notification is served in fulfilment of Schedule 8 of The Electricity Act 1989. The developer, Ambient Hydro Ltd (registered office 50 Queen Charlotte Street, Bristol, BS1 4HE), has applied to the Scottish Ministers for deemed planning consent in terms of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997.

An Environmental Statement was submitted with a planning application in August 2002. A Supplementary document to the ES has now been produced addressing issues raised during the review of the application. Any interested party wishing to view a copy of the application, the environmental statement, a location map and the Supplementary document can do so at the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority, The Old Station, Balloch Road, Balloch G83 8BF. A copy can also be viewed at the Scottish Executive library, Saughton House, Broomhouse Drive, Edinburgh EH11 3XD. Copies of the Environmental Statements are available by contacting Michael Phillips, Dulas Ltd, Unit 1, Dyfi Eco Parc, Machynlleth, Powys SY20 8AX at a cost of £50, and non-technical summaries can be obtained free of charge at the same address.
