The Department for Regional Development hereby gives notice in accordance with Article 67A(3) and (9) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 that it has prepared an Environmental Statement on the effects of the proposed A2 Broadbridge Dualling Scheme.

The general effect of the project will be to extend the existing dual carriageway west of Maydown Roundabout to the junction with the City of Derry Airport. The proposed scheme will consist of the construction of 6640 metres of proposed new road comprising - a new carriageway along the south side of the existing road from Maydown Roundabout to Clooney Road; a new length of dual carriageway deviating north from the existing road after crossing over the River Faughan and continuing east, passing the existing junction of Clooney Road and Donnybrewer Road, then south of the existing road on low embankment to the entrance to the City of Derry Airport. New roundabouts will be provided east of Campsey, at Broadbridge, and at the entrance to the City of Derry Airport.

A new pedestrian underpass will be provided at Campsie and a pedestrian footbridge at Broadbridge. In addition to earthworks and drainage, landscaping will be carried out to lessen the visual impact of the proposed project.
