The Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Subject Plan for Belfast City Council Area 2015 (Draft Plan) is a plan being prepared by the Planning Service, an Agency within the Department of the Environment, under the provisions of Part III of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991. The Plan relates to the administrative area of Belfast City Council. Its purpose is to inform the general public, statutory authorities, developers and other interested bodies of the policy framework that will be used to guide development decisions for Houses in Multiple Occupation development within the area.

Following consideration of representations made in accordance with Article 5(3) of that Order, the Department has now drawn up and is publishing the Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Subject Plan for Belfast City Council Area 2015 (Draft Plan), consisting of a written statement and accompanying maps.

A public exhibition of the Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Subject Plan for Belfast City Council Area 2015 (Draft Plan) can be viewed at the offices of the Belfast Metropolitan Area Plan Team from Tuesday 27th June 2006 to Tuesday 22nd August 2006 as detailed below, where Planning Service staff will be in attendance on the dates and times shown below.

All representations must be received no later than 5pm on Tuesday 22nd August 2006 otherwise they cannot be taken into consideration.

Anyone making an objection may also ask to be notified of the Department’s decision in writing at such address as they specify.

Depending on the number and content of any objections received, the Department may cause a Public Local Inquiry to be held by the Planning Appeals Commission. Any such inquiry will be advertised in due course.
