Notice is hereby given that in exercise of powers conferred on it by Section 3(1) (b) and Section 2(3) of the Health and Personal Social Services Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 and of all other powers in that behalf, the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has made statutory rules entitled The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Description of social care workers) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 and The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Description of persons to be treated as social care workers) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004. This Order and the associated Regulations specify that a person participating in a course approved by the Council under Section 10 of the Act for persons wishing to become social workers, shall be treated as a social care worker for the purposes of registration. The Order and Regulations will come into operation on 1st April 2004.
