SECTION 116 AND SCHEDULE 12 OF THE HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
NOTICE is given that Britton and Time Solicitors as agents of West Sussex County Council, the Highway Authority for the City of Crawley, intend to apply to Brighton Magistrates Court, The Law Courts, Edward Street, Brighton, BN2 0LG on 18 May 2026 at 10 am for an Order under Section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of an area of highway from the property’s boundary access point situated in The Mardens, in a eastly direction through the property known as Aurore, the Mardens, Ifield, Crawley RH11 0AQ as shown coloured in green on the attached plan on the ground that the highway is unnecessary.
The effect of the Order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land, as shown coloured green on the plan.
The area to be stopped up, shown as ‘S116 HA 1980 – Proposed Highway Extinguishment’ alongside a copy of the Draft Order, may be inspected free of charge at Crawley Library, Southgate Avenue, Crawley, RH10 6HG between normal office hours.
Any person to whom this Notice has been given to or use the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order may appear before the Magistrates Court to raise an objection or make representation on the application.
