THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM (PARKING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO. 158) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in exercise of its powers under Sections 9, 10, 122 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended (hereinafter called “the Act”) as amended by the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act 1985 the Parking Act 1989 and of all other enabling legislation and powers and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act made the above Order.
The general effect of the Order will be as an experiment to:
1. Introduce a 20mph Zone Speed Limit at the following locations:
a. Pondfield Road, both sides, from its junction with Wantz Road to a point 10 metres south of a point in line with the southern kerbline of Alibon Road.
b. Wantz Road, both sides, from its junction with Pondfield Road to a point 6 metres north of its junction with Manchester Way.
2. To Introduce No Waiting At Any Time restrictions, on Wantz Road, at the following locations;
a. West side, from a point 6 metres north of its junction with Manchester Way for a distance of 20.8 metres in a southerly direction.
b. South side, from a point 7.6 metres east of its junction with the northern car park access road for 28 metres in an easterly direction.
c. West side, from a point 68 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 22 metres in a northerly direction.
3. To Introduce No Loading At Any Time restrictions, on Wantz Road, at the following locations;
a. East side, from its junction with Manchester Way for a distance of 6 metres in a northerly direction.
b. West side, from a point 6 metres north of its junction with Manchester Way for a distance of 53 metres in a southerly direction.
c. East and north side, from its junction with Manchester Way for a distance of 40 metres in a southerly and easterly direction.
d. South side, from its junction with the northern car park access road for 43.6 metres in an easterly direction.
e. West side, from a point 68 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 30 metres in a northerly direction.
4. To Introduce No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading At Any Time restrictions, on Wantz Road, at the following locations;
a. North side, from a point 45.3 metres east of its junction with the northern car park access road for a distance of 10.6 metres in an easterly direction.
b. East side from a point 11 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 23.5 metres in a southerly direction.
c. East side, from a point 96.5 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 6.5 metres in a northerly direction.
d. East side, from a point 25 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 10 metres in a northerly direction. d. East side, from a point 47 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 36.5 metres in a northerly direction.
e. West side, from a point 8.5 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 33 metres in a northerly direction.
5. To Introduce 2-wheel Unrestricted Parking Bays, on Wantz Road, at the following locations;
a. North side, from a point 9 metres east of its junction with the northern car park access road for a distance of 36.3 metres in an easterly direction.
b. East side, from a point 11 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 14 metres in a northerly direction.
c. East side, from a point 35 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 12 metres in a northerly direction.
d. East side, from a point 83.5 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 13 metres in a northerly direction.
6. To Introduce No Stopping on School Entrance Markings Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pm, on Wantz Road, at the following locations;
a. West side, from a point 41.5 metres north of its junction with Alibon Road for a distance of 26.5 metres in a northerly direction.
A copy of the Experimental Traffic Order, which will come into force on Thursday 27 November 2025 and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making this experimental Order are available to view on the Councils website by visiting the following web page https://www.lbbd.gov.uk/parking/parking-area and selecting ‘New and proposed traffic and parking schemes’ or available for inspection at the Adult Library, First Floor, Barking Learning Centre, Barking between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
The Orders provides that in pursuance of section 10(2) of the Act, the specified officer may, if it appears essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic on the highway or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Orders runs, modify or suspend the Orders or any of its provisions.
The Orders are to be on an experimental basis for a maximum period of 18 months and the Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Orders should be continued in force indefinitely by means of permanent Orders made under sections 6 and 124 of the Act, as amended. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Orders for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the above-mentioned Orders came into operation or, if the Orders are varied by other Orders, beginning with the day on which the latest variation or modification came into operation. Any such objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent for the attention of Sarah Marriott-Carle to the address below or to https://www.lbbd.gov.uk/form/tmo-feedback, quoting ref 10662 - Wantz Road. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
