THE A40 & A477 TRUNK ROADS (ST CLEARS, CARMARTHENSHIRE) (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT AND DERESTRICTION) ORDER 201-

The Welsh Ministers propose to make an Order in exercise of their powers under sections 82(2), 83(1), 84(1)(a) and (2) and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to impose a 40 mph speed limit and derestrict to the national speed limit lengths of the A40 and A477 trunk roads at St Clears, Carmarthenshire described in the Schedules to this Notice. Existing speed limit and restricted road Orders will be revoked with all elements consolidated into the new Order.

During a period of 21 days from 24 April 2019, a copy of the proposed Order, plan, Statement of Reasons for making the Order and the Orders being revoked may be inspected, free of charge, during normal opening hours at St Clears Library, The Gate, Pentre Road, St Clears SA33 4AA or may be obtained free of charge from the address below quoting reference number qA1367706/1.

Objections, specifying the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to Orders Branch, Transport, Welsh Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ or by e-mail to TransportOrdersBranch@gov.wales by 15 May 2019. Should you wish to object, support or make representations, we may need to consult with people and organisations outside of the Welsh Government. As part of the process of consulting with others we may pass information to them, including information you have given us and your personal data. We will, however, only disclose your personal details where it is necessary to do so to enable us to deal with issues you have brought to our attention. If you do not wish personal data to be forwarded to third parties, you should state why when submitting your correspondence and the Welsh Ministers will copy the representations to the appropriate third parties with the name and address removed and if there is to be a local Public Inquiry, the representations will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result.

Lengths of the A40 and A477 trunk roads at St Clears, Carmarthenshire

SCHEDULE 1

40 mph Speed Limit

The length of the A40 trunk road that extends from its junction with the eastern side of St Clears Roundabout to a point 70 metres east of that junction.

The length of the A40 trunk road that extends from its junction with the western side of St Clears Roundabout to a point 200 metres north-west of that junction.

The length of the A477 trunk road that extends from its junction with the south-western side of St Clears Roundabout to a point 93 metres south-west of the centre-point of its junction with the road leading to Backe, a total distance of 875 metres.

SCHEDULE 2

Derestriction

The length of the A40 trunk road that extends from a point 70 metres east of the eastern side of St Clears Roundabout to a point 1,385 metres east of that junction.

The length of the A40 trunk road that extends from a point 200 metres north-west of its junction with the western side of St Clears Roundabout to a point 790 metres north-west of that junction.

The length of the A40 trunk road that extends from its junction with the A4066 High Street to its junction with the main A40 eastbound carriageway.
