THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER (WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO. 29) ORDER 2012

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council on 25th June 2012 made the above Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the Orders will be in:
    • a Aldwych :—
      • i to relocate a ‘pay by phone’ parking place on the north side from outside No. 69 to outside Nos. 61 to 65 ‘Connaught House’ and introduce an additional parking bay; and
      • ii to replace lengths of single yellow line on the north side with ‘at any time’ waiting and loading restrictions outside ‘Aldwych House’ and adjacent to No. 1 Kingsway.
      ii to replace lengths of single yellow line on the north side with ‘at any time’ waiting and loading restrictions outside ‘Aldwych House’ and adjacent to No. 1 Kingsway.

Note: these changes are in conjunction with the conversion of the four existing bus stops in Aldwych into bus stop clearways where no stopping is permitted ‘at any time’ except for local buses and the introduction an additional clearway outside No. 55 and adjacent to No. 1 Kingsway.

  • b Kingsway :—
    • i to introduce bus parking places to operate between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and midnight on the north-east side (outside Nos. 22 and Nos. 14 to 20), and on the south-west side (outside Nos. 7 to 41). The parking charge at the bus parking places would be £4 an hour for a maximum parking period of 4 hours;
    • ii to revoke the existing short stay bus parking places;
    • iii to change lengths of existing loading restrictions to operate between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and
    • iv to replace existing loading restrictions with ‘at any time’ loading restrictions at the junctions with Aldwych, Kemble Street, Portugal Street and Sardinia Street.
    ii to revoke the existing short stay bus parking places; iii to change lengths of existing loading restrictions to operate between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and iv to replace existing loading restrictions with ‘at any time’ loading restrictions at the junctions with Aldwych, Kemble Street, Portugal Street and Sardinia Street.
  • 3 The Orders also correct anomalies between on-street markings and current Traffic Orders.
  • 4 The Orders, which will come into force on 30th June 2012, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until 6th August 2012 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at West One, 10th Floor, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP.
  • 5 Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made make application for the purpose to the High Court.
