PROPOSED CONVERSION OF 4 HOUR ’PAY AND DISPLAY/PERMIT’ PARKING BAYS TO 1 HOUR MAXIMUM STAY ’PAY AND DISPLAY’ PARKING BAYS IN PORTLAND ROAD, SOUTH NORWOOD

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council propose to make a Traffic Order under the relevant sections of the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the Order would be to amend the Croydon (South Norwood) Controlled Parking Sub-Zone to convert 4 hour maximum stay ‘Pay and Display/Permit bays’ to 1 hour maximum stay ‘Pay and Display’ only bays, that would operate between the hours of 9am and 5pm on Monday to Saturdays inclusive in the lengths of Portland Road, South Norwood , specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Charges for parking in the bays will vary from free for the first thirty minutes up to 90p (maximum) for 1 hour (maximum).
  • 3 The restrictions on the use of the parking places will not apply to certain vehicles viz., to police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles, to broken down vehicles and those being used in connection with building and street works or for the collection or delivery of postal packets etc.
  • 4 A copy of the proposed Order, of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order, and of a map which indicates the lengths of road to which the proposed Order relates can be inspected until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey .
  • 5 Further information may be obtained by telephoning Parking Design, Parking Services, Croydon Council on 020 8726 7100 .
  • 6 Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, P.O. Box 1462, Croydon, CR9 1WX or email Parking.Design@croydon.gov.uk quoting the reference PS/JH/7/Z16 by 18 July 2012 .
  • 7 The proposed Order is intended to convert existing 4 hour maximum stay ‘Pay and Display/Permit bays’ parking bays into 1 hour maximum stay ‘pay and display’ only parking bays in Portland Road. These types of bays have been provided in other areas of the road and have shown to be effective at providing a high turnover of short term parking to boost the local economy.
