CIRCUS PLACE/WEST SMITHFIELD – REMOVAL AND RELOCATION OF MOTOR CYCLE BAYS

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Common Council of the City of London on 24 December 2009 made orders under section 6 and section 45 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  • 2 The effect of the orders will be to:
    • a remove the motor cycle bay on the west side of Circus Place and relocate it to Finsbury Circus by converting existing Pay and Display parking bays;
    • b remove the motor cycle bay in West Smithfield and relocate in part to West Smithfield and in Smithfield Street by converting Pay and Display parking bays and a loading bay.
  • 3 The motor cycle bays are being removed to facilitate the siting of docking stations for the London Cycle Hire Scheme.
  • 4 A copy of the orders, which will come into operation on 4 January 2010 and of a plan showing the affected streets, can be inspected during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays inclusive until the end of six weeks from the date on which the order was made at the Department of Planning and Transportation, Guildhall, London, EC2P 2EJ.
  • 5 A copy of each order may be obtained from the above address or by telephoning the Department of Planning and Transportation, tel. 0207 332 1108.
  • 6 Any person desiring to question the validity of either order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
