Highways

Lancashire County Council (“the Council”) hereby give notice that they have made and submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation an Order under Section 18 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the Council to transfer to the Secretary of State for Transport, as from the dates the special roads have been completed and are open for through traffic, the highways described below, being highways for which the Council are highway authority:-

• 1 A route to connect a roundabout to be constructed as part of the Classified Road with the northbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway. The route, about 624 metres in length, starting at a point 335 metres south of a point on the centreline of Bottomdale Road 103 metres east of its junction with Foundry Lane proceeding generally in a northeasterly direction to a point 255 metres north of a point on the centre line of Bottomdale Road 102 metres southeast of the intersection of Bottomdale Road centre line with the centre line of the M6 Motorway in the County of Lancashire.
• 2 A route to connect the northbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway to the proposed link road between the proposed Junction 34 Park & Ride site and the A683 Caton Road. The route, about 500 metres in length, starting at a point 743 metres south of a point on the centre line of the A683 Caton Road 56 metres west of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Caton Road with the centre line of the M6 Motorway proceeding generally in a northerly direction to a point 258 metres south of a point on the centre line of the A683 Caton Road 109 metres west of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Caton Road with the centre line of the M6 Motorway in the County of Lancashire.
• 3 A route to connect the southbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway to the A683 Caton/Lancaster Road. The route, about 614 metres in length, starting at a point 198 metres south of a point on the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road 34 metres east of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road with the centre line of the M6 Motorway proceeding in a southerly, then easterly, then northerly direction to a point 18 metres south on the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road 176 metres east of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road with the centre line of the M6 Motorway in the County of Lancashire.
• 4 A route to connect the southbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway to the A683 Caton/Lancaster Road. The route, about 1002 metres in length, starting at a point 16 metres south of a point on the centre line of the A683 Lancaster road/Caton Road 194 metres east of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road and the centre line of the M6 Motorway in a southerly and then southwesterly direction to a point 967 metres south of a point on the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road 14 metres west of the intersection of the centre line of the A683 Lancaster Road/Caton Road with the centre line of the M6 Motorway in the County of Lancashire.

A copy of the Order and of the accompanying map has also been deposited at the offices of the Secretary of State for Transport.

ANY PERSON may object to the order. An objection to the Order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, Government Office for the North East, Local Authority Orders Section, Citygate, Gallowgate, Newcastle-upon-Tyne NE1 4WH not later than 10 December 2009 and should state the title of the Order, the grounds of their objection and the objector’s address.
