TOLLINGTON WAY ZEBRA CROSSINGS AND PARKING AMENDMENTS

THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (ZONE F) (NO. 27) ORDER 2009

THE ISLINGTON (WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO. 6) ORDER 2009

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington on 3 March 2009 Made the above mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 32, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Local Government Act 1985, and to introduce 2 zebra crossings under Sections 90 and 23 of the Highways Act 1980. The measures are being introduced to reduce vehicle speeds and increase pedestrian safety around Tollington Way near to its junction with Holloway Road.
  • 2 The general effect of the above-mentioned Orders will be to:
    • a remove an existing pay and display parking place in Tollington Way, on the south-east side at its junction with Holloway Road; and
    • b remove shared use parking places and permit parking places in Tollington Way, on both sides from a point 6.5 metres north-east of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 19 and 21 Tollington Way and a point 1.5 metres south-west of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 39 and 41 Tollington Way.

Furthermore, the London Borough of Islington proposes to introduce:

  • a a zebra crossing (having a length which would occupy the full width of the carriageway, and having a width of 4.5 metres) in Tollington Way with its midpoint at a point 13.5 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerb-line of Holloway Road (there would also be associated with this zebra crossing 26.5 metres of zig zag markings on each side of Tollington Way denoting no waiting or loading at any time); and
  • b a zebra crossing (having a length which would occupy the full width of the carriageway, and having a width of 6 metres) in Tollington Way with its midpoint at a point 2 metres south-west of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 31 and 33 Tollington Way (there would also be associated with this zebra crossing 34.5 metres of zig zag markings on each side of Tollington Way denoting no waiting or loading at any time)
  • 3 The Orders, which will come into force on 7 March 2009, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection during normal office hours until 14 April 2009 at the following location:

  • 4 Any person who desires to question the validity of either of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may make application for the purpose to the High Court by 14 April 2009.
