THE TOWER HAMLETS (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (NO.1) ORDER 2008

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, on 26th August 2008 made the above mentioned Order under Section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.
  • 2 The effect of The Tower Hamlets (Prescribed Route) (No.1) Order 2008, will be to prohibit vehicular traffic from entering the streets listed below which accommodate a Sunday Street Market. The lengths of street to be restricted on a Sunday between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm are as follows ;
    • i Bacon Street, between its junction with Brick Lane and its junction with Cygnet Street ;
    • ii Brick Lane, between its junction with Quaker Street and its junction with Bethnal Green Road ;
    • iii Cygnet Street and Sclater Street.

  • 3 A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 8th September 2008 can be inspected, by prior appointment, at the offices of Communities, Localities & Culture, Transportation and Highways Section, Anchorage House c/o Mulberry Place, PO Box 55739, 5 Clove Crescent, London E14 2BY, during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays inclusive, until the expiration of a period of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made.
  • 4 Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision provided therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks of the date on which the Order were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
