NOTICE OF VARIATION TO BOUNDARY OF WILNECOTE CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is given under section 69 of the 1990 Act that on 2 July 2008 Tamworth Borough Council made a variation to the Wilnecote Conservation Area.

The following address has now been included within the Wilnecote Conservation Area with immediate effect:

The Globe Inn, Watling Street, Wilnecote.

The following address has now been excluded from the Wilnecote Conservation Area with immediate effect:

161 Watling Street, Wilnecote.

The effects of inclusion of properties within a conservation area are as follows:

1. Conservation Area Consent is required to demolish a structure;

2. Planning permission is required for the erection of most extensions, the attachment of cladding to elevation and the installation of satellite dishes on chimneys and front elevations;

3. New development has to meet the statutory test of whether it would “preserve or enhance” the character of conservation area within which it sits;

4. The council requires 6 weeks written notice before felling or carrying out work to trees.

A plan showing the revised boundary of the Wilnecote Conservation Area and character appraisal defining the special character of the area may be viewed at the office of Tamworth Borough Council, Marmion House, Lichfield Street, Tamworth B79 7BZ, Monday to Thursday, 8.45 am to 5.10 pm, Friday 8.45 am to 5.05 pm. Alternatively, it can be viewed and downloaded from the Council’s website at www.tamworth.gov.uk
