PROVISION OF DISABLED PERSONS’ PARKING PLACES, VARIOUS PARKING AMENDMENTS AND INTRODUCTION OF WAITING RESTRICTIONS

The London Borough of Southwark (Peckham) (Parking Places) (Amendment No. *) Order 2007; The London Borough of Southwark (Parking Places) (CPZ ‘M’) (Amendment No. *) Order 2007; The London Borough of Southwark (Free Parking Places) (Amendment No. *) Order 2007; The London Borough of Southwark (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (Amendment No. *) Order 2007 and The London Borough of Southwark (Waiting and Loading Restrictions) (Amendment No. *) Order 2007

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Southwark (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) proposes to make the above-mentioned Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 51 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Orders would be:

(a) in AYSGARTH ROAD, BALFOUR STREET, CLIFTON WAY, COLWELL ROAD, GANDOLFI STREET, HOLBECK ROW, LYALL AVENUE and PENNETHORNE ROAD to provide a single Disabled Persons’ (Blue Badge) permit holders’ parking places outside certain properties;
(b) in BALFOUR STREET and CLIFTON WAY to make minor amendments to existing parking arrangements to accommodate the provision of Disabled Persons’ parking places referred to above;
(c) in CHADWICK ROAD, to convert a Permit holder’s parking place to Free short-stay parking;
(d) in FOREST HILL ROAD, to introduce 2 new Free short-stay parking places and introduce “At any time” Waiting restrictions on either side of the carriageway located west of the island site at its junction with St. Aidan’s Road, and in ST. AIDAN’S ROAD, to introduce 6 metres of “At any time” Waiting restrictions on the south-east side at its junction with Forest Hill Road;
(e) in GALLERY ROAD, to introduce 71.5 metres of “At any time” Waiting restrictions on the east side north of its junction with Thurlow Park Road and introduce three extensive lengths of Free parking places.
(f) in HIGHSHORE ROAD, to shorten an existing shared-use parking place and extend by 6.5 metres “At any time” Waiting restrictions on the south side at its junction with Lyndhurst Way;
(g) in BORLAND ROAD, BRAYARDS ROAD, GOODRICH ROAD, KING STAIRS CLOSE, KIRKWOOD ROAD, LIMESFORD ROAD, MATHAM GROVE, PLOUGH LANE and STUART ROAD, to introduce short lengths of “At any time” Waiting restrictions at junctions and at sharp bends in the road in some instances, to prevent obstructive parking, improve sight lines at junctions and facilitate access particularly for refuse collection vehicles and emergency services;
(h) in ABERCORN WAY, CHANDLER WAY, COMMERCIAL WAY, OAKHURST GROVE and THE GARDENS, to introduce short lengths of “At any time” Waiting restrictions, to prevent obstructive parking across and at the approach to/exit from cycle gaps; and
(i) in NORTH CROSS ROAD, to introduce 71.5 metres of Waiting restrictions which would operate between 7.00am and 6.00pm on Mondays to Saturdays on the south-west side, opposite its junction with Nutfield Road.

3. Copies of the proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders can be inspected at the One Stop Shop, Walworth Old Town Hall, 151 Walworth Road, London SE17 1RY during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

4. Persons desiring to object to the proposals, or make any other representations in respect of them, should send a statement in writing to that effect, and in the case of an objection, stating the grounds thereof to: the Traffic Orders Officer, Street Scene and Transport Infrastructure Group, Southwark Council, Walworth Old Town Hall, 151 Walworth Road, London SE17 1RY, quoting reference HIG/INS/TMO/RDH/115 by 26th January 2007.

5. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any letter you write in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
