NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Yorkshire Water Services Limited, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford BD6 2SZ, for two temporary variations to existing consents to discharge treated sewage effluent from (1) Skipton Sewage Treatment Works, Keighley Road, Skipton into the River Aire at National Grid Ref SD 9872 4940 and (2) Dowley Gap Sewage Treatment Works, Bingley, West Yorkshire into the River Aire at National Grid Ref SE 1231 3814. (1) is for the temporary relaxation of the limit for ammonia from 13 mg/litre to 20 mg/litre for the period 26 January 2007 to 29 June 2007; (2) is for the temporary tightening of the limit for ammonia from 40 mg/litre to greater than 25 mg/litre for the same period. These temporary consent changes are to allow necessary work to be undertaken on the existing filters at Skipton Sewage Treatment Works in order to provide new plant capable of meeting more stringent quality standards; the two consent changes outlined above are to be considered together. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to The Environment Agency, Phoenix House, Global Avenue, Leeds LS11 8PG, for the attention of Peter Baker, quoting reference numbers R800884 and R800878, not later than Thursday 21 December 2006. The register containing information about the application may be inspected free of charge at the above local Environment Agency office on weekdays between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.
