PROPOSED ONE-WAY WORKING WITH CONTRA-FLOW CYCLE LANE IN LAKE ROAD, CROYDON

1. Notice is hereby given that Croydon Council, with the agreement of Transport for London, propose to make the Croydon (Prescribed Routes) (No A59) Traffic Order 2006 under Section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended by the Local Government Act, 1985. 2. The general effect of the Croydon (Prescribed Routes) (No Z59) Traffic Order, 2006 will be to introduce one-way working from south to north in Lake Road from a point 6 metres south of the southern kerbline of Wickham Road and that same kerbline and would have an exemption to apply to pedal cycles proceeding within the limits of a contra-flow cycle lane. 3. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 above would not apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on a highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police. 4. A copy of the proposed Order, of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order and of a map indicating the length of road to which the proposed Orders relate can be inspected for a period of 21 days from the date of this notice during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey. 5. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Traffic and Road Safety Section, Urban Regeneration Division, Planning and Transportation Department, Croydon Council on 020 8726 7100 extension 64906. 6. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, Environmental, Cultural and Sports Services Department, 1st Floor Davis House, Robert Street, Croydon, CR0 1QQ quoting Ref ECSS/PS/DS/5/Z59 by 9 August 2006. 7. The Councillors for this Ward are Richard Chatterjee, Mike Fisher and Janet Marshall. 8. The Order is intended to introduce one-way working in part of Lake Road at its junction with Wickham Road with an exemption for pedal cyclists proceeding within the limits of a contra-flow cycle lane.
