ROAD HUMP PROPOSALS
HILLRISE WEST AREA
1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Islington proposes
to build speed cushions and raised tables in Archway Road, Ashbrook Road, Beachcroft
Way, Boothby Road, Buxton Road, Byworth Walk, Calverley Grove, Cardinals Way, Cheverton
Road, Courtauld Road, Cressida Road, Criterion Mews, Dresden Road, Duncombe Road,
Elthorne Road, Fairbridge Road, Giesback Road, Gladsmuir Road, Grovedale Road, Harberton
Road, Henfoeld Close, Holland Walk, Holloway Road, Hornsey Lane, Hornsey Rise, Hornsey
Road, Levison Way, Lysander Grove, Lysander Mews, Miranda Road, Mowatt Close, Mulkern
Road, Nicholay Road, Nyton Close, Old Forge Road, Parolles Road, Partington Close,
Pauntley Street, Pilgrims Way, Prospero Road, Sanders Way, Scholefield Road, St John’s
Villas, St John’s Way, Sussex Way, Turpin Way, Wallace Way, Westacott Close and Zoffany
Street under section 90 of the Highways Act 1980.
2. The round-top road humps, sinusoidal road humps, speed cushions and raised zebra
crossings are designed to improve pedestrian and road safety by slowing down vehicles
and reducing the levels of traffic.
3. The round-top road humps would be constructed and maintained with a maximum height
of 75 millimetres and a maximum length of 3.7 metres in the direction of traffic at
the following locations:
Archway Road (the slip road on the north-eastern side leading to Gladsmuir Road,
Harberton Road and Pauntley Street), centred on a point:
(a) 12 metres north-west of the north-western kerbline of Harberton Road; and
(b) 8 metres north-west of the north-western boundary of Nos 24 to 58 Pauntley Street.
Ashbrook Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary wall of Nos 2 and 4 Ashbrook Road;
(b) 16 metres north-west of the north-western kerbline of St John’s Villas;
(c) 15 metres south-east of the south-western kerbline of Elthorne Road;
(d) 32 metres north-west of the north-western kerbline of Elthorne Road;
(e) 10 metres south-east of the north-western kerbline of Turpin Way; and
(f) 33 metres north-west of the north-western kerbline of Turpin way.
Boothby Road, centred on a point 2 metres south-east of a point opposite the common
boundary of Nos 5 and 6 Boothby Road.
Calverley Grove, centred on a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 21 and 23
Calverley Road.
Cheverton Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 5 and 7 Cheverton Road;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 27 and 29 Cheverton Road;
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 49 and 51 Cheverton Road; and
(d) opposite the common boundary of Nos 71 and 73 Cheverton Road
Dresden Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 6 and 8 Dresden Road;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 25 and 27 Dresden Road;
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 52 and 54 Dresden Road; and
(d) opposite the common boundary of Nos 76 and 78 Dresden Road.
Duncombe Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 71 and 73 Duncombe Road; and
(b) 12 metres south-west of the south-western boundary wall of Nos 64 to 72 Duncombe
Road.
Elthorne Road, centred on a point:
(a) 10 metres south-west of the north-eastern boundary wall of Nos 2 to 25 Turpin
Way;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 26 and 28 Elthorne Road;
(c) 7 metres south-west of the north-eastern boundary wall of No 6 Elthorne Road;
and
(d) 2 metres north-east of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 2 and 4 Elthorne
Road.
Fairbridge Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 8 and 10 Fairbridge Road;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 62 and 64 Fairbridge Road; and
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 83 and 85 Fairbridge Road.
Giesbach Road, centred on a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 21 and 23 Giesbach
Road.
Gladsmuir Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 45 and 47 Gladsmuir Road;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 21 and 23 Gladsmuir Road;
(c) opposite the south-western boundary wall of No 1 Gladsmuir Road; and
(d) opposite the common boundary of Nos 8 and 10 Gladsmuir Road.
Harberton Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 91 and 93 Harberton Road;
(b) 2 metres north-east of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 63 and 65
Harberton Road;
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 40 and 42 Harberton Road; and
(d) opposite the common boundary of Nos 15 and 17 Harberton Road.
Lysander Grove, centred on a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 12 and 14
Lysander Grove.
Miranda Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 16 and 18 Miranda Road; and
(b) opposite the common boundary of No 61 St John’s Way and No 2 Lysander Grove.
Mulkern Road, centred on a point:
(a) 4 metres south-east of the north-western boundary wall of Nos 63 to 65 Mulkern
Road;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 47 and 49 Mulkern Road; and
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 31 and 33 Mulkern Road.
Parolles Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 45 and 47 Parolles Road; and
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 21 and 23 Parolles Road.
Prospero Road, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 3 and 5 Prospero Road; and
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 19 and 21 Prospero Road.
Scholefield Road, centred on a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 4 and 6
Scholefield Road.
St John’s Villas, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 62 and 64 St John’s Villas;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 40 and 42 St John’s Villas;
(c) opposite the common boundary of Nos 29 and 31 St John’s Villas; and
(d) opposite the common boundary of Nos 17 and 19 St John’s Villas.
Zoffany Street, centred on a point opposite the common boundary of Nos 6 and 7 Zoffany
Street.
4. The sinusoidal road humps would be constructed and maintained with a maximum height
of 75 millimetres and a length of 3.7 metres in the direction of traffic at the following
locations:
Courtauld Road, centred on a point:
(a) 5 metres north of a point opposite the southern boundary wall of No 165 Hedgeland
Court, Courtauld Road; and
(b) 21 metres north-east of a point opposite the south-western boundary wall of Nos
65 to 82 Beachcroft Way.
Sussex Way, centred on a point 7 metres north-west of a point opposite the south-eastern
boundary wall of Nos 279 to 283 Sussex Way.
5. The speed cushions would be constructed and maintained with a maximum height of
75 millimetres and a length of 3.5 metres in the direction of traffic at the following
locations:
St John’s Way, centred on a point:
(a) 26 metres south-west of a point opposite the north-eastern boundary wall of Bowerman
Court;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 101 and 103 St John’s Way;
(c) 35 metres north-east of a point opposite the north-eastern boundary of No 127
St John’s Way;
(d) 46 metres south-west of the south-western kerbline of Mulkern Road;
(e) 8 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerbline of Mulkern Road; and
(f) 28 metres south-west of a point opposite the north-eastern boundary wall of No
133 St John’s Way.
6. The raised zebra crossings will be constructed and maintained as amendments to
the existing zebra crossings and with a height of 100 millimetres and a length of
6 metres at the following locations:
St John’s Way, centred on a point:
(a) opposite the common boundary of Nos 61 and 63 St John’s Way;
(b) opposite the common boundary of Nos 119 and 121 St John’s Way; and
(c) at its junction with Hazellville Road.

8. Any objections or other representations about the proposed Notice should be sent
