PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS AT REDEARTH ROAD, DARWEN IN THE COUNTY OF LANCASHIRE

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant of section 252(4) of the above Act, a public inquiry will be held at the Whitehall Hotel & Country Club, Ross Street, Darwen, on Tuesday 22 August 2006, at 10.00 am, in connection with the proposal by the Secretary of State for Transport to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act, to authorise the stopping-up of Highways contained within the land enclosed by Sudell Road, Redearth Road, the access roads to the rear of Nos 49 to 75 Redearth Road and Nos 1 to 7 Primrose Terrace and the western embankment of the Blackburn to Bolton railway line, Darwen. If authorised, the stopping-up would enable the development of a 1,600 pupil academy with associated sports facilities, landscaping, car parking and ground works. The inquiry will be held by Brent Mundy, hereby appointed by the Secretary of State for the purpose of the inquiry into the Order. Ref GO/TNW 5286/35/1/10.
