INTEGRATED POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Notice is hereby given that ScottishPower Generation Ltd, Rye House Power Station, has applied to the Environment Agency for an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit to operate a 715MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant. Where natural gas is combusted to produce electricity. The CCGT technology has been designed and selected to maximise efficient means of gas generating electricity. This technology is a highly efficient means of generating electrical energy compared with other fuel combustion techniques. The use of CCGT has the benefit of minimising emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants per unit of electricity produced compared with other schemes for the production of electricity. The installation is located at 1 Ratty’s Lane, EN11 0RF, in the borough of Broxbourne in Hertfordshire. The application contains a description of any foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the installation on the environment. Information relating to the above IPPC application for a permit to operate Rye House Power Station is held in registers at the following locations: Environment Agency, Apollo Court, 2 Bishops Square Business Park, St Albans Road West, Hatfield, Hertfordshire AL10 9EX; and Broxbourne Borough Council, Borough Offices, Bishops College, Churchgate, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 9XQ. Members of the public can inspect these registers, free of charge, at the above-stated addresses during normal office hours. In addition, members of the public who wish to obtain a copy of the relevant information can do so upon the payment of a reasonable charge to cover the costs of copying. Any objections or representations to the above IPPC application should be made in writing to the Environment Agency at the address below, within 28 days from the date of this public notice. Any such objections or representations will be entered into a public register unless the person making them requests in writing that they should not be so placed. If there is such a request, the register will only include a statement that there has been a request.
