THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (STOCKTON AND THORNABY BYPASS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2006 (AMENDMENT)

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Amendment Order on the A66 Trunk Road in the District of Stockton on Tees to enable bridge replacement works to be carried out in safety. This Amendment Order will come into force on Saturday 15 April 2006 and will remain in force until the works have been completed, approximately 18 months. The effect of the Order is to add that there will be a ban on all pedestrians (except those engaged in the works) from using the footway adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway over Surtees Bridge, a total distance of approximately 540 metres. This notice amends the information given in the previous notice published on 13 January 2006. Alternative Route When the footway adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway over Surtees Bridge is closed, pedestrians travelling: (i) eastbound will be diverted off the footway onto Bowesfield Lane. Travel north on Bowesfield Lane, turn right onto Parkfield Road, and then right at the roundabout onto Bridge Road. Travel east on Bridge Road and turn right onto Thornaby Road where pedestrians can continue their journey as normal; and (ii) westbound will be diverted off the footway onto Thornaby Road. Travel north on Thornaby Road and then turn left onto Bridge Road. Travel west on Bridge Road, and then turn left at the roundabout onto Parkfield Road. At the end of Parkfield Road, turn left onto Bowesfield Lane where pedestrians can continue their journey as normal.
