TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
PROPOSED STOPPING UP OF AN AREA OF HIGHWAY (INCLUDING HIGHWAY LAND) AT THE NORTHERN SECTION OF OLD CROFT ROAD, NORTH WROUGHTON, IN THE BOROUGH OF SWINDON
The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make
an Order under section 247 of the above Act, which will authorise the stopping-up
of an area of highway (including highway land) at the northern section of Old Croft
Road, North Wroughton, in the Borough of Swindon.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable
the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance
with the planning permission referred to in that Schedule.
The proposed Order will require the provision of a new highway, along the route shown
by stipple and the improvement of (part of) Old Croft Road and A4361 Croft Road along
the route shown by cross-hatching on the deposited plan, maintainable at the public
expense for which the Swindon Borough Council will be the local highway authority.
The proposed Order will provide that no part of the said highway shall be stopped-up
until the works specified in the Order have been carried out.
Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours
during the 28 days commencing on 7 April 2006 at the Reception, Swindon Borough Council,
Premier House, Station Road, Swindon and may be obtained, free of charge, from the
Government Office for the South West (quoting Ref SW/THM/8247/280) at the address
stated below or by telephoning 0117 900 1896.
Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order within the period of 28
days commencing on 7 April 2006 by notice to the Secretary of State for Transport,
quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for the South West, The Planning
Team, 1st Floor, 2 Rivergate, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6EH.
In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may
be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may
wish to communicate with the objector about it.
