COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF LAND AND NEW RIGHTS IN THE PARISHES OF HAUGHLEY AND HARLESTON IN THE DISTRICT OF STOWMARKET IN THE COUNTY OF SUFFOLK

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has prepared in draft the A14 Trunk Road (Haughley New Street to Stowmarket Improvement) Compulsory Purchase Order (MP No.48) 20 under sections 239, 240 and 246 of the Highways Act 1980. He is about to make this Order, and if made, the Order will authorise the Secretary of State for Transport to purchase compulsorily the land and the new rights described below for the purpose of: (a) the construction of new trunk roads in the Parishes of Haughley and Harleston in the District of Stowmarket in the County of Suffolk in pursuance of the trunk toad Order; (b) the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in those parishes and district in pursuance of the Side Roads Order; (c) use by the Secretary of State for Transport in connection with such construction and improvement of highways and the execution of other works mentioned above; and (d) the improvement of the Trunk Road in those parishes and district; (e) the mitigation of any adverse effects which the existence or use of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved will have on their surroundings; (f) the land which is described in the Schedule 1 to this Order and is delineated and shown coloured pink on the plan and the rights described in that Schedule over the land described in it and delineated and coloured blue on the plan; (g) the land which is described in the Schedule 2 to this Order and is delineated and shown coloured pink on the plan and the rights described in that Schedule over the land described in it and delineated and coloured blue on the plan for the mitigation of any adverse effects which the existence or use of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved will have on their surroundings. Copies of the draft Order and of the plan referred to therein, together with copies of the A14 Trunk Road (Haughley New Street to Stowmarket Improvement and Detrunking) Order 20 and the A14 Trunk Road (Haughley New Street to Stowmarket Improvement Side Roads) Order 20 have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours from 31 March 2006 to 26 May 2006 at the offices of the Highways Agency, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL; Suffolk County Council, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 2BX; Mid-Suffolk District Council, Council Offices, 131 High Street, Needham Market, Ipswich, Suffolk IP6 8DL; Stowmarket Library, Milton Road, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 1EX and at Haughley Post Office, 2 Old Street, Haughley, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 3NR. Any objection to the draft Compulsory Purchase Order must be made in writing and addressed to the Secretary of State for Transport at the offices of the Highways Agency, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL marked for the attention of Rebecca Shuker to arrive before 26 May 2006 and should quote Ref HA 65/019/113. The objection should give the title of the Compulsory Purchase Order, the grounds of objection, and the objector’s address and interest in the land. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of the grounds of objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
