THE STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS (ST CATHERINE’S CORNER AT CATHERINE STREET AND RHONDDA ROAD, PONTYPRIDD, RHONDDA CYNON TAF) ORDER 200
Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Enterprise, Innovation and Networks acting
on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales proposes to make an Order under Section
247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 to authorise the stopping-up of the
areas of highway described in Schedule 1 to this notice, to provide for the new area
of highway as described in Schedule 2 to this notice and to improve the areas of highway
as described in Schedule 3 to this notice.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable
the development described in Schedule 4 to this notice to be carried out in accordance
with planning permission granted by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council on 15
December 2004 under Ref 03/1189/10. The Order will cease to have effect upon cessation
of the planning permission.
During the 28 days from 5 April 2006, copies of the draft Order and the deposited
plan may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours at the offices of
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Sardis House, Sardis Road, Pontypridd, Rhondda
Cynon Taf CF37 1DU, or may be obtained, free of charge, from the address below quoting
the Welsh Assembly Government Ref CZ510-5-5-63.
Within the above mentioned period of 28 days, any person may, by notice to the Welsh
Assembly Government, Transport Wales—Orders Branch, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ
(quoting Ref CZ510-5-5-63), object to the making of the Order. In the preparation
of an objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or
representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.

Schedule 1
Description of the areas of highway to be stopped under this Order
An irregularly shaped area of footway forming part of the highway known as Mill Street,
having a maximum length of 20.89 metres, a maximum width of 2.84 metres and a total
area of 41.62 square metres (‘Area 1’ on the deposited plan).
An irregularly shaped area of footway forming part of the highway known as Catherine
Street, having a maximum length of 2.81 metres, a maximum width of 0.74 metres and
a total area of 1.04 square metres (‘Area 2’ on the deposited plan).
A circular area of footway forming part of the highway known as Catherine Street
having a radius of 0.3 metres and a total area of 0.28 square metres (‘Area 3’ on
the deposited plan).
Schedule 2
Description of the area of new highway to be provided
An irregularly shaped area of land adjacent to the highway known as Mill Street,
having a maximum length of 33.85 metres, a maximum width of 2.45 metres and a total
area of 51.46 square metres (‘Area A’ on the deposited plan).
Schedule 3
Description of the areas of highway to be improved
An irregularly shaped area forming part of highway known as Mill Street, having a
maximum length of 72.36 metres, a maximum width of 7.52 metres and a total area of
384.73 square metres (‘Area B’ on the deposited plan).
An irregularly shaped area forming part of highway known as Catherine Street, having
a maximum length of 66.62 metres, a maximum width of 3.57 metres and a total area
of 152.73 square metres (‘Area C’ on the deposited plan).
An irregularly shaped area forming part of highway known as Upper Church Street,
having a maximum length of 4.82 metres, a maximum width of 3.81 metres and a total
area of 10.24 square metres (‘Area D’ on the deposited plan).
Schedule 4
Proposed Development
The construction of a multi-deck car park (326 spaces) and B1 offices (3754.1 square
metres) at St Catherine’s Corner, Pontypridd.
