WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995, SCHEDULE 10)

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Anglian Water Services Ltd for a consent to discharge Treated Sewage Effluent, from Haverhill Sewage Treatment Works, Haverhill, Suffolk into the Stour Brook at National Grid Ref TL 6809 4483 within the St Edmundsbury Borough Council area. This application is for a temporary relaxation in effluent quality until April 2006 whilst work is carried out to upgrade the existing sewage treatment works. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the offices of the Environment Agency, Rivers House, Threshelfords Business Park, Inworth Road, Kelvedon CO5 9SE. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so, in writing, to the Area Planning and Corporate Services Manager, Environment Agency, at Iceni House, Cobham Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP3 9JD quoting Ref AW2NF342D not later than 23 December 2005. The Environment Agency is committed to maintaining and, where possible, improving water quality. If, after full consideration of this application and any representations made by interested parties, it is decided that consent can be given, then conditions will be imposed to ensure that the effluent receives treatment before discharge to the receiving waters so that the above aims are met.
