NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10 Section 4 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by United Utilities PLC, Dawson House, Great Sankey, Warrington WA5 3LW, for consent to discharge 4,000 cubic metres per day of trade effluent (comprising washwater from a drinking water reservoir) to a tributary of the River Irk at National Grid Ref SD 8286 0467 from Heaton Park Water Treatment Works, off St Margarets Road, Prestwich, Manchester M25 5SW. Any person wishing to make representations about the application should do so in writing to: Environment Agency, Authorisations, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Warrington, Cheshire WA3 7WD, not later than 15 September 2005 quoting Ref s/278/p/2005/n. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the above address during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Details of this application for consent are placed on a public register, kept by the Agency and open for inspection by the public.
