ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (SOUTHOE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE) (PROHIBITION OF “U” TURNS) ORDER 200
The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make
an Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
on the A1 Trunk Road at Southoe in Cambridgeshire.
The effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from making “U” turns from
the northbound carriageway to the southbound carriageway, or from the southbound carriageway
to the northbound carriageway, through the gaps in the central reservation of the
A1 at Southoe, opposite the junction of the A1 with:
(a) Lees Lane, or
(b) Bell Lane.
A copy of the proposed Order together with plans illustrating the proposals and a
statement of the Secretary of State’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may
be inspected at Southoe Village Hall, or during normal office hours at the offices
of Huntingdonshire District Council, Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon,
Cambridgeshire PE29 3TN; St Neots Library, Priory Lane, St Neots, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
PE19 2BH; or obtained by application to the Highways Agency, Traffic Operations Division,
Orders Team, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, quoting Ref HA41/29/191.
Any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, or by a Highway
Agency Traffic Officer, would be exempt from the prohibition.
Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should write to the Highways Agency
at the above address stating the grounds of objection by a date not later than 17
June 2005, or within 3 weeks of this publication, whichever is the latest.
