WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991 SCHEDULE 10 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995)
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88
Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act
1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to
the Environment Agency by United Utilities Water PLC for consent to discharge a maximum
of 27.5 cubic metres per day of sewage effluent from the septic tank known as Low
Gill Wastewater Treatment Works, Lowgill Lane, Lowgill, Lancashire, to Groundwaters
at National Grid Ref SD 6518 6481.
The application is for a descriptive consent for the existing discharge from Low
Gill Wastewater Treatment Works whilst capital investment work is undertaken to provide
a new secondary treatment plant by November 2006 to achieve compliance with a numeric
consent.
Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application
should do so in writing to: Mr D Edwards, Authorisations Officer, The Environment
Agency, N.W. Central Area Office, PO Box 519, South Preston PR5 8GD, not later than
Friday 13 May 2005, quoting Ref c/013/a/05/n.
The Environment Agency is committed to maintaining and, where possible, improving
water quality. If, after full consideration of this application and any representations
made by interested parties, it is decided that consent can be given, then conditions
will be imposed to ensure that the effluent receives treatment before discharge to
the receiving waters so that the above aims are met.
Details of the proposal are contained in the register held by the Environment Agency
at the North West Central Area Office, Lutra House, Dodd Way, Walton Summit, Bamber
Bridge, Preston, Lancashire, and may be inspected, free of charge, between the hours
of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive.
