WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991: SCHEDULE 10 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995)
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995) that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Yorkshire Water Services Ltd, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford BD6 2SZ for consent to discharge treated sewage effluent, storm sewage effluent and sewage in an emergency from Old Ellerby Sewage Treatment Works, Blue Bell Inn, Crabtree Lane, Old Ellerby, Hull at National Grid Ref TA 1663 3745. The application is in respect of a new package sewage treatment works to serve the village of Old Ellerby which will replace an existing untreated discharge. The dry weather flow to the treatment works will be 24 cubic metres per day. Flows up to 53 cubic metres per day will receive full biological treatment. The discharge of storm sewage will only occur in times of rainfall and/or snow melt conditions in the sewerage catchment served by the works when the flow to the works exceeds 0.6 litres per second. Storm flows will pass through a 6mm in two dimension screening device, to remove sewage solids. The emergency component of the application is in respect of mechanical/electrical failure at the sewage treatment works and pumping station. Both are fitted with an alarm, standby pump, generator socket (for use in times of mains electricity supply failure) and will provide 4 hours of storage, at dry weather flow in order to minimise the frequency of any emergency discharge. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Phoenix House, Global Avenue, Leeds LS11 8PG, for the attention of Peter Baker, quoting Ref R800639, not later than Thursday 7 April 2005. The register containing information about the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the local Environment Agency office at Viking Close, Great Gutter Lane, Willerby, Hull HU10 6DE, on weekdays between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm up to Thursday 7 April 2005.
