INTEGRATED POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Notice is hereby given that Avecia Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit to operate an installation involving production of pharmaceutical products using chemical or biological processes, section 4.5 Part A(1)a of the PPC Regulations. Belasis East Site is a multi-product stationary technical plant, operating under a Multi-Product Protocol. Production includes the operation of aseptic fermenters and the down stream processing of fermenter broth using various types of separation technology. The installation is located at PO Box 2, Belasis Avenue, Billingham TS23 1YN, in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham. There are no foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the installation on the environment. Information relating to the above IPPC application for a permit to operate the Belasis East Site is held in registers at the following locations: The Environment Agency, Coverdale House, Amy Johnson Way, Clifton Moor, York YO30 4ZU; and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Environmental Health Unit, PO Box 232, 16 Church Road, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 1XD. Members of the public can inspect these registers, free of charge, at the above-stated addresses during normal office hours. In addition, members of the public who wish to obtain a copy of the relevant information contained in the registers can do so upon the payment of a reasonable charge to cover the costs of copying. Any objections or representations to the above IPPC application should be made in writing to the Environment Agency at the address below, within 28 days from the date of this public notice. The Environment Agency, SPG Team, PO Box 12, Richard Fairclough House, Knutsford Road, Warrington WA4 1HG. Any such objections or representations will be entered into a public register unless the person making them requests in writing that they should not be so placed. If there is such a request, the register will only include a statement that there has been a request.
