THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (LONG NEWTON GRADE SEPARATED JUNCTION) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER (MP NO 36) 2005

1. Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under the above-mentioned Acts, on 2 February 2005, made a Compulsory Purchase Order, entitled as above. 2. The Order as made provides for the purchase of the land and rights described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of: (i) the construction of 5 new slip roads in the parish of Long Newton in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees in pursuance of the A66 Trunk Road (Long Newton Grade Separated Junction Slip Roads) Order 2005; (ii) the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises in the parishes of Long Newton and Elton in the said Borough in pursuance of the A66 Trunk Road (Long Newton Grade Separated Junction Side Roads) Order 2005; (iii) mitigating any adverse effect which the existence or use of certain of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved by him as mentioned above will have on the surroundings of those highways; (iv) use by the Secretary of State in connection with such construction and improvement of highways and the execution of other works mentioned above. 3. Copies of the Order as made by the Secretary of State for Transport and of the plans referred to in it have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours from 17 February 2005 to 31 March 2005 at the offices of the Highways Agency, Major Projects Directorate North, City House, New Station Street, Leeds LS1 4UR; at the offices of the Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees, Law and Democracy Department, Municipal Buildings, Church Road, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 1LD; at Eaglescliffe Library, Butterfield Drive, Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees TS16 0EL; and at Stockton Central Library Open Technology Centre, Church Road, Stockton-on-Tees TS16 1TU. 4. The Order as made becomes operative on the date on which this notice is first published, but a person aggrieved by the Order may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks from the operative date, question its validity on the grounds: (i) that the authorisation granted by the Order is not empowered to be granted, or (ii) that their interests have been substantially prejudiced by failure to comply with any statutory requirement relating to the Order.
