The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make the following Orders: 1. An Order under sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980 which will: (1) provide that roads which he proposes to construct along the following routes shall become trunk roads from the date when the Order comes into force: (a) a route (“the main route”) about 1.19 kilometres in length from a point on the eastern boundary of the A1 Worksop Road approximately 49 metres north-east of the north-western corner of the Apley Head Wood (also known as Chestnut Lodge) property at Babworth near Retford, in the county of Nottinghamshire to a point approximately 320 metres south of the centreline of Checker House Railway Bridge (the road along this route being given the reference letter A on the plan) and; (b) three routes from slip roads and a roundabout to connect the main route with other highways at Apleyhead in Babworth near to Retford. 2. An Order under sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980 which will provide that a length of the A1 Trunk Road to be superseded by the new trunk road on the main route shall cease to be a trunk road, and shall be classified as a classified road, as from the date on which the Secretary of State for Transport notifies Nottingham County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the new trunk road on the main route is open for traffic. 3. An Order under sections 12, 14, 125 of the Highways Act 1980, in relation to the A1 Trunk Road and the new Trunk Road to be constructed by him at Babworth near Retford in the county of Nottinghamshire, which will: (1) authorise him to: (a) improve highways; (b) stop up highways; (c) construct new highways; (d) stop up private means of access to premises; and (e) provide new means of access to premises; all in the vicinity of the new road on the main route; and (2) provide for the transfer of the new highway to Nottinghamshire County Council as highway authority as from the date on which he notifies them that it has been completed and is open for traffic. Copies of each draft Order and the plans referred to in it, and of the environmental statement which the Secretary of State for Transport has published in relation to the construction of the new highways and the improvement of existing highways referred to in the draft Orders numbered 1, 2 and 3 above, may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours from Thursday 10 February 2005 until Thursday 31 March 2005, or within 7 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, at the Highways Agency, Broadway, Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1BL, and at Bassetlaw District Council, Queens Building, Potter Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire S80 2AH; Nottinghamshire County Council, County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 7QP; and Retford Library, Churchgate, Retford, Nottinghamshire DM22 6PE. Any person may obect to the making of any of these Orders not later than Thursday 31 March 2005, or within 7 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, by notice to the Secretary of State for Transport, at the offices of the Highways Agency, Broadway, Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1BL, quoting Ref HA 065/018/000160 and stating the grounds of objection. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
