THE A27 TRUNK ROAD (SOUTHERHAM TO BEDDINGHAM IMPROVEMENTS SIDE ROADS) ORDER 20

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make the following Orders: 1. An Order under section 10 of the Highways Act 1980 which will provide that a road which he proposes to construct along a route (“the main route”) about 0.81 kilometres in length from a point on the trunk road 310 metres north-west of its level crossing of the Lewes to Eastbourne Railway and passing in a generally eastwards direction over the Lewes to Eastbourne Railway to end at the A27/A26 Beddingham roundabout as proposed to be improved shall become a trunk road from the date when the Order comes into force. 2. An Order under sections 12, 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980, in relation to the A26 and A27 Trunk Roads and the new Trunk Road to be constructed by him at Beddingham in the county of East Sussex, which will: (1) authorise him to: (a) improve highways, (b) stop up highways, (c) construct new highways, (d) stop up private means of access to premises, and (e) provide new means of access to premises, all between Southerham and Beddingham in the vicinity of the trunk road and the new road on the main route; and (2) provide for the transfer of each new highway to the East Sussex County Council as highway authority as from the date on which he notifies them that it has been completed and is open for traffic. Copies of each draft Order and the plans referred to in it, and of the environmental statement which the Secretary of State for Transport has published in relation to the construction of the new highways and the improvement of existing highways referred to in the draft Orders numbered 1 and 2 above, may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours from 11 February 2005 until 31 March 2005, or within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, at the Highways Agency, Major Projects Directorate, Federated House, London Road, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1SZ; East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1SG; Lewes District Council, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1AB; Lewes Town Council, Town Hall, High Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2QS; Lewes Library, Albion Street, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2ND and Trevor Arms Public House, Glynde, Lewes, East Sussex BN8 6SS. Any person may object to the making of any of these Orders not later than 31 March 2005, or within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, by notice to the Secretary of State for Transport at the offices of the Highways Agency, Federated House, London Road, Dorking Surrey RH4 1SZ, quoting Ref HA/065/023/000057 and stating the grounds of objection. In the preparation of an objection and the statement of grounds of objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.
