PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF AREAS AND LENGTHS OF HIGHWAY (INCLUDING FOOTBRIDGES, STAIRS AND CYCLE TRACK) AT BOND STREET, PENN STREET, GEORGE WHITFIELD COURT, PHILADELPHIA COURT, CASTLEMEAD, NEWFOUNDLAND STREET, MEADOW STREET, UN-NAMED CYCLE TRACK (BETWEEN NEWFOUNDLAND STREET AND MEADOW STREET), STRATTON STREET, CHARLOTTE STREET, EAST STREET, TUCKER STREET, AN UN-NAMED ROAD (AT EASTERN END OF TUCKER STREET), ST MATTHIAS PARK, RIVER STREET, WELLINGTON ROAD, DALE STREET, FROME STREET, HANOVER COURT, GLOUCESTER STREET FOOTBRIDGE, WELLINGTON ROAD FOOTBRIDGE AND HABERFIELD CAR PARK LINK FOOTBRIDGE AND STAIRS, IN ST JUDES, BRISTOL

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (City of Bristol) (No SW2) Order 2005”, authorising the stopping-up of areas and lengths of highways (including footbridges, stairs and cycle track) at Bond Street, Penn Street, George Whitfield Court, Philadelphia Court, Castlemead, Newfoundland Street, Meadow Street, un-named cycle track (between Newfoundland Street and Meadow Street), Stratton Street, Charlotte Street, East Street, Tucker Street, an un-named road (at eastern end of Tucker Street), St Matthias Park, River Street, Wellington Road, Dale Street, Frome Street, Hanover Court, Gloucester Street footbridge, Wellington Road footbridge, Haberfield Car Park link footbridge and stairs, in St Judes, Bristol. Your attention is drawn to the fact that the Order includes a modification to the Order published in draft on 19 December 2003 that has been made by the Secretary of State under his powers contained in section 252(8) of the above Act. It is as follows: A reserved matters approval issued on 19 December 2003 (Ref 03/020800/M) has been added at the end of paragraph 1. Details of the approval are given in the Schedule to this notice. Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Government Office for the South West, Local Planning Team, 1st Floor, 2 Rivergate, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6ED (or by telephoning 0117 900 1896) and quoting Ref SW/THM/8247/171 or may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of Bristol City Council, Planning Services, Brunel House, St George’s Road, Bristol. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 11 February 2005, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. A J Wright, Planning Team, Government Office for the South West Schedule Redevelopment of site, including demolition works, to provide mixed use scheme comprising retail, office, food and drink, residential, leisure and hotel uses (Classes A1, A2, A3, B1, C3, D2 and C1), public open space, car parking, ancillary servicing and access arrangements together with alterations to highway network in accordance with outline planning permission granted to Bristol Alliance by Bristol City Council on 30 June 2003 under Ref 02/02929/P/C and for approval of reserved matters of siting, use and external appearance of the buildings and the landscaping details for the network of new streets as covered by application Ref 03/02800/M/C.
