Environment Agency


The Environment Agency in exercise of its powers under section 210 of and Schedule 25 to the Water Resources Act 1991, as amended by the Environment Act 1995, has made new fishery byelaws. The byelaws end fishing with nets for salmon and migratory trout in the coastal waters of Cumbria, and amend associated byelaws. They also remove the restriction on fishing at the site of the Cummersdale Weir which was destroyed by floods. It is the Agency’s intention to apply to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation of these new byelaws. Copies of the new byelaws and the existing byelaws are deposited at the address below and at the offices of the Agency at Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Birchwood, Warrington WA3 7WD; Lutra House, Dodd Way, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 8BX; Ghyll Mount, Gillan Way, Penrith 40 Business Park, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 1BP, where they may be inspected without charge, between the hours of 9.00 am and 4.30 pm on any weekday. A copy of the new and the existing byelaws will be supplied, free of charge, from these offices to any applicant. Any person may object to the confirmation of the new byelaws by letter addressed for the attention of Gloria Akinyemi at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Fisheries Division IIB, Room 109, 10 Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HH, on or before Thursday 24 March 2005.
