PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990

VARIATION OF BOUNDARY OF UPPER GORDON ROAD/UPPER PARK ROAD CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is hereby given under the provisions of section 69 of the 1990 Act that the Borough Council has designated the areas of land described in the Schedule to this notice as extensions to the Upper Gordon Road/Upper Park Road Conservation Area, being areas of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. The name of the area has changed to Upper Gordon Road to Church Hill Conservation Area. The principal effects of areas being designated as conservation areas are as follows: 1. The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation and enhancement of the area. 2. Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any buildings in the area, with minor exceptions. 3. Six weeks notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area. 4. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area. 5. In carrying out any functions under the Planning Acts, the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area.
