WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991
NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that P, T. W, and S R Rooke, of Lodge Farm, Nunnington, York YO62 5UY, are applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from the Holbeck between National Grid Refs SE 6693 7737 and SE 66711 7739, for use at Lodge Farm, Nunnington, and at SE 6963 7819, for use at Ness Hall, East Ness, Nunnington, in the parish of Stonegrave, Ryedale district of North Yorkshire. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 90 cubic metres per hour, 900 cubic metres per day, 46,400 cubic metres between April and September each year. The water will be used for the spray irrigation of arable crops. The proposed licence will be in aggregate with licence serial number 2/27/25/211. The flow in the Holbeck will be completely augmented with water from the reservoir at National Grid Ref SE 6680 7742, when the prescribed flow conditions imposed on licence serial number 2/27/25/211 prohibit abstraction. The flow will also be partially augmented when the rates of abstraction exceed the rates authorised under licence serial number 2/27/25/211. There will therefore be no net increase in abstraction authorised from the Holbeck. A copy of the application and any map, plan and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Lodge Farm, Nunnington, between 16 May 2003 and 20 June 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Licensing Section, Coverdale House, Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, York YO30 4GZ, before the end of the said period. G H Saul Consulting Engineers, on behalf of P, TW and SR Rooke 8 May 2003.
