THE A34 TRUNK ROAD (A34/A500 TALKE ROUNDABOUT, STAFFORDSHIRE TO THE A5011 LINLEY ROAD, STAFFORDSHIRE) (DETRUNKING) ORDER 2003

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980 which will provide that a length of the A43 Trunk Road:
From a point on the northern boundary of the A34/A500 Talke Roundabout (but not including the circulatory carriageway), continuing in a northerly direction, through the District of Newcastle-under-Lyme in the County of Staffordshire terminating at a point on the eastern boundary with the A5011 Linley Road, a distance of approximately 2.2 kilometres
shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road, from the date on which the Order comes into force.
Copies of the Order and the plans referred to in it have been deposited at the Highways Agency Information Point, Ground Floor, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3HW and Operations Directorate—Area 11, Broadway, Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1BL; Staffordshire County Council, Highways House Riverway, Stafford ST16 3TJ and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Civic Offices, Merrial Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire ST5 2AG, where they are open to inspection, free of charge, at all reasonable hours.
Copies of the Order can be purchased through booksellers or direct from government Bookshops (The Stationery Office). The A34 Trunk Road (A34/A500 Talke Roundabout, Staffordshire to the A5011 Linley Road, Staffordshire) (Detrunking) Order 2003 is numbered SI 201124/2003 and is priced £1.50.
Any person aggrieved by the Order, who desires to question its validity or the validity of any provision in it, on the ground that:

(a) it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, or
(b) any requirement of that Act or of regulations made under that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order

may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from the date of the first publication of this notice. On such application the Court may suspend or quash that Order or any provision in it.
The A34 Trunk Road (A34/A500 Talke Roundabout, Staffordshire to the A5011 Linley Road, Staffordshire) (Detrunking) Order 2003 as made contains only part of the proposals contained in the Order published in draft by the Secretary of State on 8 February 2002 under the title The A34 Trunk Road (Great Wyrley, Staffordshire to the A5011 Linley Road, Staffordshire) (Detrunking) Order 200 . The remainder of those proposals was contained in the A34 Trunk Road (Newtown, Great Wyrley, Staffordshire to the Southern boundary of the A34/A500 Queensway Roundabout, Staffordshire) (Detrunking ) Order 2002 made by the Secretary of State on 26 April 2002.
