ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AMWELL 20 MPH ZONE WORKS
1. Notice is hereby given that the Islington Borough Council is proposing to make a Temporary Traffic Order to enable works to be carried out to implement a 20 mph zone on the highways in the Amwell area.
2. The general effect of the Order would be to introduce waiting and loading restrictions operating at any time and to close vehicular traffic various lengths of highway and suspend any one-way or no entry prohibitions at such times and to such extent indicated by signs during the execution of the works on the following roads:
Amwell Street, Arlington Way one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Arlington Way, Chadwell Street, Claremont Square, Cruickshank Street one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Cruickshank Street, Easton Street, Granville Square, Granville Street, Great Percy Street no entry from Percy Circus be temporarily suspended, Great Percy Street, Hardwick Street, Holford Street one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Holford Street no entry from Great Percy Street be temporarily suspended, Inglebert Street, Lloyd Baker Street one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Lloyd Baker Street, Lloyd Square one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Lloyd Square, Lloyd Street, Margery Street one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Margery Street, Merlin Street, Myddleton Square, Mylne Street one way operation may be temporarily supended, Mylne Street, Percy Circus, Prideaux Place, River Street, Tysoe Street, Vernon Rise, Wharton Street, Wilmington Square, Wilmington Street one way operation may be temporarily supended, Yardley Street, one way operation may be temporarily suspended, Yardley Street.
3. The alternative route for diverted traffic will be indicated by traffic signs. Access to any premises adjacent to the affected highway will be maintained.
4. The prohibitions will not apply to any vehicle being used for the said works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes or to anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform.
5. The Order will come into operation from 3 April 2003 and may be in force for a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner. The works are expected to be completed by August 2003 and will be programmed so that only a limited number of the above-mentioned streets will be restricted and closed at any one time.
