REVISION OF WATER ABSTRACTION RATES

Take notice that General Domestic Appliances Limited, of Grindley Lane, Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire ST11 9LJ, is applying to the Environment Agency for a new licence to abstract water from underground strata at National Grid Ref SJ 9454 4054 at the Blythe Bridge Works, Grindley Lane, Blythe Bridge, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire ST11 9LJ. The existing licence no 3/28/6/82/G held by General Domestic Appliances Limited authorised abstraction volumes of 955 cubic metres per day and 350,000 cubic metres per year, from a borehole in Sherwood Sandstone at National Grid Ref SJ 9454 4054 for industry, industrial cooling and evaporative cooling until its expiry on 31 March 2003. The proposal is to allow abstraction of water to continue until a time limited end in 2007 to coincide with the completion of a review of aquifer resource availability at the lower rates of 750 cubic metres per day and 210,000 cubic metres per year. The water will be used for Metal Finishing, Appliance testing, Evaporative cooling and Toilet usage. A copy of the this application, a map, plans and other documents submitted, can be inspected, free of charge, at any time within the security building at the above address between 31 March and 28 April 2003.
