The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order, under section 247 of the above Act, which will authorise the stopping-up of a length of highway at Hall Street, Alfreton, Derbyshire, measuring a maximum length of 45 metres. If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Tesco Stores Ltd by the Amber Valley Borough Council on 24 January 2003 under Ref AVA/2001/0541. The proposed Order will require the provision of new highway and the improvement of existing highway by Tesco Stores Ltd, maintainable at public expense and for which the highway authority is to be the Derbyshire County Council. Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected, at all reasonable hours, during the 28 days commencing on 21 March 2003, at the Amber Valley Borough Council, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for the East Midlands (quoting Ref EMCM 505035/1/249) at the address below. Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order, within the period of 28 days commencing on 21 March 2003, by notice to the Secretary of State, quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for the East Midlands, Transport, The Belgrave Centre, Stanley Place, Talbot Street, Nottingham NG1 5GG. In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
