DESIGNATION OF MILLOM TOWN CENTRE CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is hereby given that on 4 March 2003, Copeland Borough Council designated under the provisions of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, parts of Millom in the county of Cumbria as a Conservation Area. The effect of the designation is to enable the Authority to preserve and enhance the special architectural or historic interest of the designated area. This will be achieved by applying special controls to the demolition or alteration of buildings and the carrying out of work to trees within the Conservation Area, together with other works of enhancement or preservation. The boundary of the designated area includes the following: Wellington Street: On the south side, the curtilage of Nos 2-50 (even) Wellington Street. On the north side, the curtilage of Nos 1-57 (odd) Wellington Street. Nelson Street: Curtilage of Salvation Army. Crown Street: Curtilage of No 2 Crown Street and Church. Lapstone Road: On the north side, curtilage of 2-52 a (even) Lapstone Road. On the south side, curtilage of Nos 1-39 (odd) Lapstone Road. St Georges Terrace and Market Square: All properties and curtilage on St Georges Terrace and Market Square. St George’s Road: To include curtilage of Palladium, Nos 1-11 (odd) St Georges Road. Curtilage of St Georges Church and Vicarage, St Georges Residential Home. Lancashire Road: On the west side, curtilage of Supermarket. Cambridge Street: Curtilage of all properties on western side of Cambridge Street. Holborn Hill: On the south side, curtilage of Nos 15-47 (odd). Duke Street: On the north side, to include curtilage of Hall, No 8 and 10 and Police Station. Station Road: On the west side, curtilage of No 4 and The Old Coach House. On the east side, to include curtilage of The Station Public House, Station House and Millom Station.
