THE A36 TRUNK ROAD (CHURCHILL WAY AND SOUTHAMPTON ROAD, SALISBURY) (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2003

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he made this Order on 13 March 2003, coming into force on 24 March 2003, on the A36 Trunk Road in the district of Salisbury in the county of Wiltshire. The Order consolidates the provision of the following Orders: (a) the County of Wiltshire (Salisbury City Relief Road Stage IV) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1977; (b) the City Council of New Sarum (40 mph Speed Limit) (No 1) Order 1969; (c) the City Council of New Sarum (40 mph Speed Limit) (No 1) Order 1973; (d) the Trunk Roads (40 mph Speed Limit) (No 7) Order 1974; and (e) the City Council of New Sarum (40 mph Speed Limit) (No 1) Order 1966. These Orders impose a 40 mph speed limit on the A36 Trunk Road at Salisbury, on Churchill Way, from its junction with St Pauls roundabout to Castle roundabout; its junction with Castle roundabout to St Marks roundabout; its junction with St Marks roundabout to and including College roundabout, and on a 25 metre length of Southampton Road adjacent to the eastern edge of College roundabout. A copy of the made Order, of a plan illustrating the effect of the Order and copies of the Orders which are to be revoked (and two Orders which amend the 1966 Order at (e) above), may be inspected during office hours at the offices of Salisbury District Council, Bourne Hill, Salisbury and Salisbury Library, Market Place, Salisbury. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of regulations made thereunder, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks from 13 March 2003, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or any provision contained therein.
