PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF A LENGTH OF HIGHWAY AT SWINTON IN THE CITY OF SALFORD
The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that, on the application
of John B Woodhead, he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act,
which will authorise the proposed stopping-up of a length of Watson Street, situated
between Westover Street and Station Road, Swinton.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable
the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance
with the planning permission granted to John B Woodhead by the Secretary of State
on 17 February 2003 under Ref APP/U4230/A/02/1101363.
Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours
during the 28 days commencing on 20 March 2003 at the offices of Salford City Council,
Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton and may be obtained, free of charge, from the
Government Office for the North West (Transport) (quoting Ref GO/TNW 5085/35/1/124)
at the address stated below.
Anyone may object to the making of the proposed Order but the objection must be received
by the end of the 28 day objection period mentioned above. Objections should be made
in writing, quoting the above reference, to the Secretary of State at the Government
Office of the North West (Transport), Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1
4BE or by e-mailing nreynolds.gonw@go-regions.gsi.gov.uk
Please bear in mind that any objections received will be passed to the applicant
and other people affected by it, and those persons may contact the objector regarding
the issues raised. The substance of the objection should relate to the loss of public
right of way and not the merits of development taking place.

associated car parking and construction of new vehicular access.
