LONDON UNDERGROUND (CAMDEN TOWN STATION) ORDER
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

London Underground Limited, whose address to which all requests for further information and all notices or other documents required to be served upon the applicant is c/o Messrs Winckworth Sherwood, 35 Great Peter Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3LR, has applied to the First Secretary of State, under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992, for the above-mentioned Order under sections 1 and 5 of that Act. The draft Order provides for the Company to make provision for a new Camden Town underground station on the Northern line in the London Borough of Camden by: (a) the demolition of the buildings on and adjoining the site of the existing station bounded by Camden High Street, Kentish Town Road and Buck Street and excavation to a level of the existing platforms and running tunnels; (b) the construction of a new ticket hall, escalators, lifts, stairs, concourses, traction sub-station and cross passages; (c) the provision of a temporary ticket hall, escalators and traction sub-station during the construction of the works; (d) the provision of an electricity cable beneath Buck Street; (e) the provision of a new pedestrian road (provisionally called Reunion Street); (f) the stopping-up of a portion of the footway of Buck Street; (g) the temporary interference with and carrying out of street works in Buck Street, Camden High Street, Camden Road, Kentish Town Road and Parkway; and (h) the safeguarding of certain buildings in the vicinity of the works. In connection with the provision of the above works the draft Order also provides: (i) for the compulsory acquisition by the Company of land or rights in land within the site of the works including the subsoil in land or beneath Camden High Street and Kentish Town Road, the appropriation of the subsoil beneath those and other streets, the extinction or suspension of private rights of way and the payment of compensation; (ii) for the application of Part I of the Compulsory Purchase Act 1965 and of the Compulsory Purchase (Vesting Declarations) Act 1981; and (iii) for other matters ancillary to or in consequence of the proposals contained in the draft Order. Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application should be sent to the First Secretary of State, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, c/o the TWA Processing Unit, Zone 3/11, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, on or before 30 April 2003. An objection or representation MUST: (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 30 April 2003; (ii) be made in writing; (iii) state the grounds of objection or representation; (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation; and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. The Secretary of State may make objections and other representations public and will copy them to the applicant for the Order.
