NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that Cargill Plc, Knowle Hill Park, Fairmile Lane, Cobham, Surrey, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from Brocklebank Dock, Bootle, at National Grid Ref SJ 3330 9440 and SJ 3350 9450, at Brocklebank Dock, Regent Road, Bootle, Merseyside. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 4,500 cubic metres per hour, 108,000 cubic metres per day, 39,420,000 cubic metres per year, between 1 January and 31 December each year. The water will be used for non-evaporative cooling purposes and all water will be returned to the source of supply. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Cargill Plc, Regent Road, Bootle, Merseyside, between 13 March 2003 and 9 April 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Appleton House, 430 Birchwood Boulevard, Birchwood, Warrington WA3 7WD, before the end of the said period.
