THE A3 AND A203 GLA ROADS (LAMBETH) (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) TRAFFIC ORDER 2003

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 2. The A3 and A203 GLA Roads (Lambeth) (Prescribed Route) Experimental Traffic Order 2001 (“the experimental Order”) was made under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and came into force on 25 September 2001. 3. Transport for London has carefully considered whether or not the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued indefinitely and has decided that they should be so continued. 4. Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on Transport for London by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and in accordance with regulation 23 of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996, Transport for London has made the A3 and A203 GLA Roads (Lambeth) (Prescribed Route) Traffic Order 2002 (“the permanent Order”). This Order will come into force on 17 March 2003 and the effect of the Order will be to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the experimental Order. 5. The general nature and effect of the Order will be to prevent: (a) vehicles, other than pedal cycles, entering the A203 from Binfield Road from proceeding otherwise than northwards into the A203 South Lambeth Road; (b) vehicles, other than pedal cycles, from entering the cycle gap at the junction of Binfield Road with the A203 South Lambeth Road; (c) pedal cycles entering the cycle gap described in paragraph 2(b) above, from proceeding otherwise than south-eastwards into the A203 Stockwell Road; (d) vehicles, other than buses and pedal cycles, proceeding in the A3 from turning right into Binfield Road. 6. The roads affected by the permanent Order are the A203 South Lambeth Road, the A3 Clapham Road and Binfield Road in the London Borough of Lambeth. 7. A copy of the permanent Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and a copy of the experimental Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of: Transport for London, Street Management, Statutory Functions— Traffic Orders, 25 Eccleston Place, London SW1W 9NF; and Transport and Highways Group, Lambeth Borough Council, 3rd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP. 8. Any person desiring to question the validity of the permanent Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers, or that any of the relevant requirements have not been complied with in relation to that Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which that Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
