THE A5117 AND A550 (WELSH ROAD) TRUNK ROADS (PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURNS) (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2003

The Secretary of State for Transport gives notice that he has made an Order under sections 9(1) to (3) and 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the A5117 Trunk Road in the district of Ellesmere Port and Neston in the county of Cheshire. The effect of the Order will be to prevent any motor vehicle from entering the northbound carriageway of the A550 (Welsh Road) by making a right turn from the westbound carriageway of the A5117. The Order, which comes into force on 22 March 2003, will be in operation for an experimental period of up to 18 months. The Order contains a provision under section 10(2) of the Act allowing a specified Officer to modify or suspend the operation of the Order or any provision of it if it appears to him essential in the interest of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic. A copy of the Order, together with a plan, and a copy of the Secretary of State’s statement of reasons for making this Order, may be inspected during office hours at the offices of Cheshire County Council, County Hall, Chester CH1 1SF; during opening hours at Chester Library, Northgate Street, Chester CH1 2EF; Upton Library, Wealston Lane, Upton-by-Chester, Cheshire CH2 1HB; Blacon Library, Western Avenue, Blacon, Chester CH1 5QY; Hope Farm Library, Bridge Meadow, Great Sutton, Cheshire CH66 2LE; Ellesmere Port Library, Civic Way, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire CH65 0BG; and also be seen or inspected at The Highways Agency, Operations Division (North), Room 810, Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE. The Secretary of State will consider in due course whether the provisions of this Order should continue in force indefinitely. Any person desiring to object to the making of this Order for the purpose of continuing the prohibition of right turn in force indefinitely should send between Saturday 22 March 2003 and Monday 22 September 2003 a written statement of their objections and the grounds thereof to the Director’s address given above quoting Ref HA 28/15/38.
