STOPPING-UP OF PARTS OF UNADOPTED HIGHWAY, MERSEYWAY, STOCKPORT

Notice is hereby given that the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, being the Highway Authority for the area of the said Metropolitan Borough, intend to apply to the Magistrates Court sitting at the Courthouse, Edward Street, Stockport, on 16 April 2003, at 1.45 pm, for an Order that such parts of the unadopted highway known as Merseyway, Stockport, as are mentioned in the Schedule be stopped up on the grounds that they are unnecessary, pursuant to section 116 of the Highways Act 1980. Schedule From the covered mall entrance northerly side, adjacent to Littlewoods/Index Catalogue Showroom at a point 17 metres from the covered mall entrance off Mersey Square, being an area of 3 square metres. At a point of 73 metres from the covered mall entrance off Mersey Square on the northerly side within Oasis Stores. The area to be stopped up being a distance of 4 metres in a southerly direction (1.8 metres wide). At a point of 73 metres from the covered mall entrance off Mersey Square on the southerly side within Amazing Ladieswear Limited. The area to be stopped up being a distance of 4 metres (1.8 metres wide). At a point situated 25 metres from the junction of Princes Street and Arden Walk on the easterly side within unit K4 (vacant), The Art and Design Shop, and unit K2 (vacant) Phones 4 U for a distance of 32 metres in a southerly direction. A width of 1.9 metres. At a point 57 metres from the junction with Princes Street and Arden Walk on the easterly side within Phones 4 U, Birthdays Shop, Accessorize, Bay Trading Co, T Mobile International, New Look, Clinton Cards and Dixons in a southerly direction towards Merseyway for a distance of 64 metres (of varying width 3 metres-10 metres). That part of unadopted highway adjoining the Clock Tower total distance of 7.5 metres by 5 metres wide. Details of the proposed draft Order, together with a map detailing the unadopted highway to be closed may be examined at the Inquiry Desk, Town Hall, Stockport, free of charge, between the hours of 9.30 am and 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
