WATLING STREET—CLOSURE AND RELOCATION OF PARKING

1. Notice is hereby given that the Common Council proposes to make Orders under sections 6 and 45 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 2. The effect of the Orders is consequent upon street enhancement schemes in Laurence Pountney Hill and in Watling Street and would be to: (a) close Laurence Pountney Hill between Cannon Street and Suffolk Lane to all vehicles; (b) close Watling Street at its junction with New Change to all vehicles; (c) revoke the designation of some metered parking in Watling Street; (d) relocate other metered parking and disabled persons’ parking in Watling Street; (e) relax the restrictions on waiting by vehicles for the purpose of loading/unloading and designate metered parking on the east side of Bread Street, between Watling Street and Cannon Street. 3. A copy of the proposed Orders, of the Common Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders and of plans showing the affected streets can be inspected during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays until the expiration of twenty-one days from the date on which this notice is published in the Department of Planning and Transportation, Guildhall, London EC2P 2EJ. 4. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Department of Planning and Transportation, on 020 7332 1108. 5. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the City Planning Officer, Guildhall, London EC2P 2EJ, within the aforementioned period of 21 days quoting Ref P&T/TRAF/PA.
